WE ARE ROUGE PARK
The park from which this area gets its namesake is the city's biggest; with more than 1,000 acres, it’s even larger than Belle Isle and New York City's Central Park. Bounded roughly by the CSX Railroad on the north; Outer Drive, West Parkway and Parkland on the west; Warren on the south; and Trinity and Burt Road on the east, it’s where ballplayers, swimmers and model airplane hobbyists mingle with nearly 1,200 acres with deer, herons, owls and wild turkeys. A major feature is the Brennan Pools, which has played host to the U.S. Olympic Trials. The park has been hit hard by crime, but organizations such as Friends of Rouge Park and residents work hard to shine a light on this natural resource.
